    Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 3.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2023 (table 1), according to the "third" estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the third quarter, real GDP increased 4.9 percent. The GDP estimate released today is based on more complete source data than were available for the "second" estimate issued last month. In the second estimate, the increase in real GDP was 3.2 percent. The update primarily reflected upward revisions to consumer spending and nonresidential fixed investment that were partly offset by a downward revision to private inventory ... (full story)

The GDP increased at an annual rate of 3.4% in the fourth quarter of 2023, which is a deceleration from 4.9% growth in third quarter of 2023.

The growth primarily reflected increases in consumer spending, state and local government spending, exports, nonresidential fixed investment, and federal government spending.

Personal income increased by $230.2 billion in the fourth quarter and disposable personal income increased by $190.4 billion.

Corporate profits from current production increased by $133.5 billion in the fourth quarter. Profits of domestic financial corporations increased, while rest-of-the-world profits decreased.

There was a decrease in private inventory investment and a slowdown in residential fixed investment and private inventory investment, which partly offset the overall growth.

GDP is ALWAYS based on price...just because data is "high" doesn't mean it is "fake". If they said "GDP = 8%" but the same calculation really yielded 2%, THEN, I might agree with you on "fake".

Hot? Maybe.....but EventsTrader called out the fact that this is a deceleration from 4.9% last year. Seems like a slowdown from those numbers to me....

Can anyone explain something to me? I am an unexperienced, still learning Forex trader and I really don't understand what is going on. I thought USD/CAD and USD/JPY should go UP after those recent news releases. Why are they dropping so heavily? Thanks to anyone who can explain.
GDP number isn't fake. 4% is government spending. Yeah... YEAH, DUH, US is already in recession.
All of these numbers whether real or fake doesn't matter, because of one thing! FED CUTTING RATES!

Lol I could make that blanket statement for every CB will eventually cut their rates. When who knows but they'll cut it. That's not surprising at all.

or The FED and ECB make punishment for major pairs currency due to over value in London session ..... so price make balancing .... like in EURUSD

The economy is way too hot for the FED to cut rates. They will hold or raise rates based on these numbers.
