Hi all,
For those interested in ANOTHER daily pivot indicator:-
I've written one for myself that addressed some issues I found with others I've tried...
It's got a neat and un-cluttered look.
Start time is adjustable. ...And works...
The number of days to plot back is adjustable, for speed reasons.
Very handy for back testing strategies.
The DaysToPlot value can be set to "0" (zero) to plot the WHOLE chart you have in history. Though expect to wait if you have a chart going back a year or two. ...Especially on the smaller time frames (5 minutes and lower)
My computer (a few years old) takes around a minute to plot 2 years back on a five minute chart. But once it's drawn you are good to go.
It's taken a few versions to find a method that would create reliable plots. Mainly due to missing bars/data in history, other methods I tried were dodgey. This one is slower but MUCH BETTER.
I've concentrated on keeping the plots neat and tidy. The default colors were designed for a light chart background like white (Currently Lavender on mine. White's too harsh on Sunday mornings. ).
Style inspiration came from the pivot indicator that comes with Virtual Trader.
There are two indicators included here...
One is for the main Pivot lines ...the other for the Mid-levels.
For anyone who cares, I've been setting my start time to 04:00 GMT of late. The default is 00:00 ... in whatever your providers timezone is.
*NOTE 1: There must be enough history available for the indicators to get the previous days opening and closing prices. This may require scrolling back through history to "load" it on live accounts.
*NOTE 2: I suggest you avoid using the indicator on 1 minute charts, as I've seen the occasional narrow daily plot with indicates there maybe an oversight in the code somewhere. I rarely go below five minutes myself. If your happy to use it on 1-minute charts go ahead, I'm sure it'll still be useful.
I intended to add some statistical stuff, but I think it's best being in a separate indicator. ...And maybe it's already out there.
Ok...
ENJOY!
*EDIT:
Files:
WARNING!: I suggest you NOT have this indicator visible on the 1-min Timeframe ...Is slow each time you change to this time frame.
In these indicators I suggest setting your start time to around about N.Y. close area if you are unsure.
Auto-Pivot Plotter.zip
Original version. SLOW. Don't bother.
Auto-Pivot Plotter 1-41.zip
I've been using this for years. Most recommended version.
March 2010. (1_42 files)
Modified to clean up some lines to my liking. ...Still creates line at beginning of week, but may be useful 'bug'
March 30 2010: Added PreviousHighLow.ex4
Uses same code (modified) to plot the High/Low from preceding day instead of calculated pivots.
