Is demo a step before real trading?

That's not a downside - It's a reduction of noise, which is a good thing.

And that's why this thread is in the rookie section.

But how can we train our emotional, greed , fear on demo? I doubt it, reduction of noise in demo trading but we are going to encounter it when we go live trading.

Who the fuck cares about any of that before you prove you can make money in a perfect environment!

Demo is crucial! First figure out how the market works and make profit on a consistent base.

I agree. If you start trading on a live account too quickly there will be an unnecessary loss of investment due to the trial and error period.

Agreed. Nothing like losing your (or other's) money in a real account to feel the hard push of psychological pressure. You will need to ride your emotions well long before trading a real account.

Trading with other people's money when one is not fully confident in their abilities is even worse than trading with your own.

I am of the belief that initially every new trader should get familiar with demo account. Trading requires to have a lot of technical knowledge and if you are new, you should not start with a live account and "see where it goes". If you are unable to attain high profits in a demo account,you should not think about opening a live account. It will definitely go south.

patiently try trading on a demo account for months and it's difficult for me. However, I was still free to try on my cent account for months without being sad

not only for you , its much difficult for all kinds of traders above all the traders who are particularly newcomers , because there is no emotions for that reason we traders cant concentrate greatly.

Letting one's emotions get the better of them during trading only leads to losses, I agree.

True, not everyone has the patience to practice. I can't say with any certainty if someone would make the blunder of trading on a live account right from the very beginning but people do tend to start using a live account relatively sooner than they should.

Demo I often use to test EA and other problems. however, the demo wants to be effective you have to be persistent about that demo account for at least 6 months

Demo practice is something which should never be skipped. Even if you are an experienced trader you should always test the demo of your broker first. I am referring to regulated brokers here as they are transparent in demo and live account set ups. You can test your strategy on a demo and check if it is according to your desired results.
For beginners, demo is even more important. You should play around with the platforms, get hold on using the indicators , chart types, profiles placing pending orders, stop loss, take profit etc. Once you are familiar with its working along with a good market analysis, you can proceed for a live account.
