no wonder...
I pick sell on audusd (luckily on demo) at the time I open the trade, that price was right at top of the tma and suddenly few hours later (the price was against me - up) i saw again the price previously where i took the trade now become in the middle of tma.

Be very careful... I just download the tma true and prefer using this one.

Central line of "TMA true" == LWMA (linear weighted moving average) You have it in the built in moving averages of metatrader. Triangular moving average is something completely different (centered or not, does not matter)

So just use a 56 LWMA and move on.
Have you added a LWMA 56 to a chart and looked at where it plots on the CURRENT candle versus where the extreme TMA midline plots on the current candle?

Did you analyze the extreme TMA indicator code to see what is actually calculated?

I suspect that most noobs want to simply scroll back on their charts and practice looking for setups rather than having to go through all the work of finding a simulator and learning how to set it up and use it. i certainly prefer to just scroll the charts back!

When I scroll back, I want to be able to do a valid analysis using a plot that is reasonably close to what occurred in real time. I am not interested in seeing how the market flows through the curving bands! That can be interesting for a type of theoretical discussion, but it does not help me to find trade setups on my charts when I scroll back.

When I first started reading the extreme TMA thread, I did not realize what a big "problem" the repainting was until I found a combination of indicators that made beautiful entries and exits based on scrolling back charts, then found that they were worthless in real time. Further reading of the thread postings revealed more than just the TMA indicator repainting.

I think that people have forgotten how they would plot the TMA if they just had a pencil and paper. First, wait for the current candle to close. Next calculate the TMA value to be plotted at this candle's time. Next, put a dot on your graph paper at this value. Wait for the now painting candle to close. repeat the process.

Now, how shall we draw the TMA line? There are several options. The simplest is merely to connect the dots. I prefer this method, but I would guess that most people find this too choppy.

Another option is to use some type of curve fitting. I won't go into any details here, but folks should know the methods, or be able to do some research on the subject.

Yes, I agree with you DrDave. I prefer the "scroll back" ability the TmaTrue provides.

Although, it does appear some strategies use the previous cycles created by the TMA indicator for current trading decisions. In this case, a simulator would be needed to re-create the previous cycles.

But, unfortunately, too many traders still utilize the TMA indicator to look back through their charts to gauge the success of certain strategies. It is a shame.

The TmaTrue indicator plots the LWMA (using HalfLength + 1) for the current bar in the same way as the TMA indicator.

The difference is the TMA indicator also recalculates the previous HalfLength bars to give it those nice curved lines. The TmaTrue indicator does not do this extra step, allowing us to see where the midline actually was at the close of each bar.
Hey folks, if you are going to compare TMA True with the repainting version, be sure they both use the same value for ATRMultiplier! I think that bydefault, one of them uses 2 and the other 3.

- Yes, there is significant difference between many of the TmaSlope indicators around this site.

- Yes, most of the TmaSlope indicators repaint heavily.

- No, you should not use the repainting versions of TmaSlope indicators to visually backtest.

- No, I do not read hopwood's site and I will never post there.

- No, I do not use nanningbob's strategy.

- No, I do not use Alorente's strategy.

- Yes, I have developed a version of the TmaSlope for my own trading.

- Yes, you can visually backtest the TmaSlope indicator. But you should use a version that does not repaint past values. About a minute after I created my original TmaSlope indicator, I created one that does not repaint. It just simply makes sense to do that.

- Yes, I can create a non-repainting version for nanningbob's 10.2 tma slope. And yes, you can use it to visually backtest. And yes, it does show significant differences between the two versions. See below:

Edit: Updated with new version to rearrange code, remove unnecessary processing (indicator is twice as fast to load now), and give labels more meaningful coloring.

When I attached your code on my typical chart, (I use a tick generator, to update my charts) when the generator through a new tick the platform closes down instently. Ordiarily it works fine with any code I have placed on it in the past. You may have some error in your code that you do not know about.

Thanks for the feedback...working fine here. It is probably a MT4 version issue. I compiled it with the 432 build of MT4. I've attached a version compiled using build 419.

I am still using built 409 on my demo account, and noticed it no longer works sence the market opened this week I am getting an Old Version error. need to get things up dated, I guess.

Thanks for your kind words. I'm not sure which indicator you are referring to. However, if you are talking about non-repainting version of tma slope, I can assure you it accurately shows the slope value of the mid TMA line as it was at the close of each bar. Regardless of what nanningbob (assuming that's the NB you are referring to) might think, the calculations are correct. Spend some time using the indicators in a simulator and you can see for yourself.
