Hello,

I have been looking the last 10h without result for a "drag and drop" script for a Horizontal line.
The most important criteria is that i can predefine in the mq4 file the description field so it is always the same and automatically filled in when I drop the script on the chart.

I have tried to add this functionality the script below but without success. I don't have a clue if it is possible to use that script as a base or if it has to be written by scratch.

Manually its is done by this way:
Draw the line - Horizontal line Properties - common - Description

If somebody has script like this or a tip that can add this to an existing script please let me know

your code sample will not enter anything in the description field...

MT has a few things to say;

string ObjectDescription(string name)Return object description. For objects of OBJ_TEXT and OBJ_LABEL types, the text drawn by these objects will be returned.
To get the detailed error information, one has to call the GetLastError() function.

It only states that text and labals not lines... but like a lot of MT thats BS it can be done on all objects with limitations. The text field can be assigned a string value on all objects but only at the time of first creation and it can not be changed there after. with out deleting that object.

I have added some code to your script to fill in the discription field.

Hey guys, thank you so much for your inputs. I made a combination of the script I had posted and the ones you made that allowed to set up a predefined description. In this way multiple lines can be placed without the need to delete the previous one first. I'm not a coder so the code might look clunky but it does the job and thats the most important. Thanks again!

BTW: The reason for this script is to use it in combination one of the following alert indicators.

So the script makes it possible to drag and drop a line with a standard signature (description)
I will test it when markets open, but it should work without a problem.

Hi square1.

Whilst I think that it could be done - by having an indicator on all of your templates that creates records of specific objects using global variables, or a text file, I have too much else going on at the moment to put something together for you. Sorry!
