How to Import Historical Data from JForex to MT4

I need to import Dukascopy XAUUSD H4 historical data to MT4 from JForex!

I tried in vain, would anyone be kind enough to give me a step-by-step guide, please.

I saw your PM just today, was for a while not online.

Anyway, I download M1 data from Dukascopy and convert them to MT4 hst files (which one can basically copy to the MT/history folder and start MT4

for the conversion I use my own tools posted her: MT4 Historical Rates - Backtest

the download and conversion process takes a bit of time but in general it works quite fine.

see attached logfile (this is when I filter the original downloaded data) for some info like gaps ect.. the big gap is in the beginning so that is ok

BUT: I do filter my data with SkipBarNoPriceChange and SkipBarPriceZeroOrLess you would need to read on my: MT4 Historical Rates - Backtest or in the helpfile a bit about it.


In case you need only XAUUSD H4 I might be able to mail them to you. PM me

However, it obviously needs M1 for back testing, as it won't back test, am I correct?

Did you include M1? Also, what do I do with the Log File sent?

Not sure, as I mentioned I never really bothered too much about the in build MT4 strategy tester. I guess it depends on the EA as well as the Period you choose in strategy tester and the Model

No, because you mentioned you only need M15 and H4. Anyway this M1 data are a bit big to send over mail.


from my point of view you have a couple of options:

1. convert the csv dukascopy data yourself: with one of the tools available: e.g. my MT4 Historical Rates - Backtest

2. if you want I can help look into it (but you would have to tell me which broker you use (so I can install the same as you have)

you would also have to mail me the EA (not sure if you want to post it here)

and specify a bit more what you really need to test: Time period ect. ect

Many thanks for your replies. Are you familiar with Tickstory?

I successfully downloaded Dukascopy data using Tickstory, however I want to use 'OPEN PRICES'.
Unfortunately, Tickstory only supports & creates FXT files for 'Every Tick' Mode (not for 'Open Prices' mode)!

What is happening is my Broker's trading specs are being erased (eg. Min Lots) and the new FXT file
created by MT4 is generic ( in other words the Min Lots & Spreads, Swaps etc) are different to my Broker's.

How can I edit the generic FXT file being created by Mt4, or is there a simpler way of producing FXT files which
carry only my Broker's specs.
